Blackjack
Beat the dealer by holding a hand closer to 21 without going over. Number cards count their value, picture cards count 10, and an ace counts 11 or 1, whichever is better for the hand. A "soft" total contains an ace counted as 11.
Playing a hand
Build your bet with the chips and press Deal. You receive two cards face up, the dealer one face up and one face down. Then choose:
| Action | What it does | When |
|---|---|---|
| Hit | Take another card. | Any time your hand is under 21. |
| Stand | Keep your hand; the dealer plays. | Any time. |
| Double | Double the bet, take exactly one more card, then stand. | On your first two cards of any hand, including after a split. |
| Split | Two cards of equal value become two hands, each with the original bet and a new second card. | First two cards only, once per round. |
| Insurance | A side bet of half your stake that the dealer has blackjack. Pays 2 to 1 if so. | Only when the dealer shows an ace, before any other action. |
Dealer and payouts
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Decks | Six, shuffled before every round |
| Dealer draws | Up to 16, stands on all 17s (including soft 17) |
| Blackjack (ace + ten-value in two cards) | Pays 3 to 2; after a split a 21 in two cards is a normal win |
| Win | Pays 1 to 1 |
| Push (equal totals) | Stake returned |
| Bust (over 21) | You lose, even if the dealer busts afterwards |
| Dealer blackjack | Beats everything except a player blackjack, which pushes |
| Insurance | Pays 2 to 1 when the dealer has blackjack, otherwise lost |
With correct play these rules return about 99.5% of stakes over time; insurance is a poor bet on average and is offered for completeness.
